About Us

The Bronx-wide Coalition is made up of community, faith, and labor organizations across the borough that have been working to build and implement a comprehensive long term economic development plan that is grounded in racial justice and economic democracy.

Our work together builds on decades of organizing, direct services, advocacy, and mutual aid by community groups and members across the Bronx. For years, we have fought back neighborhood by neighborhood against organized abandonment and for what we deserve. We are tired of the wealth we create leaving our borough, because we don’t control our communities. We have come together to fight forward for racial justice and economic democracy—a future where we share ownership and decision-making over resources, assets, and development in Our Bronx.

  • Economic democracy is a system where people share ownership and decision making over the power and resources in their communities. Rather than profit and pure self-interest, it is grounded in values of solidarity, cooperation, democracy, and sustainability.

  • In order to address root causes, combat generational systems failures, and meaningfully respond to the urgent pressures that are threatening the Bronx’s status as the last affordable borough for low-income and working-class people in New York City, the Bronx requires a vision and plan for equitable economic development that is ambitious, coordinated, and long-term.

  • Now is the time to deepen Bronx-wide solidarity and cooperation, and to take bold action to create a thriving, sustainable, and healthy future for the Bronx, for us by us. To learn more about the Bronx-wide Plan and how to get involved, contact Caesar Tobar-Acosta at caesar@northwestbronx.org

We designed the Bronx-wide Plan—a 30-year economic development plan for the borough, rooted in building shared wealth and ownership over the assets in our communities and growing our capacity to govern and steward them together.

Our Bronx-wide Plan isn’t just a document—it’s a living process of learning, developing shared analysis, and building power together. So our Bronx-wide Coalition went on the move, with festivals, workshops, and public assemblies, so that thousands of our neighbors could help us create and carry out our plan.
